Trix’ Travels was once created with full cooperation of Trix the cat. She has been perfectly safe and lazy during the entire process that was posted every other Saturday. This project has long been finished, but now has a final ending. Trix is making her final journey.

The little creature on the couch wakes up whten I enter the room. Where she once was a bit on the heavy side, she has lost an incredible amount of weight in the last couple of months if not only weeks. She’s become frail, her head seeming to big for her thin body, but still she manages to lift herself up to slowly walk towards me. A soft, sad meow greats me, breaks my heart as I pet her carefully. A 15 year old cat, fighting till the end, but the tumor will win. There is no doubt about that, even though it might be one of the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.

Travelling cat

What started as goofing off while Trix stayed over for a vacation, became a two-weekly-column that I highly enjoyed making. Most parts where done while Trix was sitting next to me on the couch, chilling, napping, and sometimes snoring. She was a regular happy, fat cat.

But that was several years ago, and over the course of the last couple of weeks Trix has become increasingly ill. A tumor, preventing her from chewing or swallowing food like she used to. The end was in sight, because of her old age and other health issues inevitable. She had a long and good life, but that didn’t make the goodbye less sad for her owners or for me. The person she spent her time with when the owners were on vacation. The fact that she used some of her last strength to get up, walk up to me, and let me pet her softly meant a great deal as I knew for sure it would be possibly the very last time I’d see her. I would be correct to think so.

Trix the travelling cat has started her last journey, one I can’t photoshop a picture for as there are no pictures of that place. Nor would I photoshop it if they did exist.
