Good Omens, honestly I don’t even fully remember why I bought this book. It surely wasn’t the cover and it most definitely wasn’t because the book was a spin on the tale of the Apocalypse. Because saying it’s a spin on this tale-as-old-as-time is an understatement. Honestly, what I liked most was the witty banter between the demon and the angel, the existence of a dog, and the fact that I learned some biblical things. But mostly, this book confused me. Perfectly adaptable for what is bound to be a hilarious full-of-nonsense tv show about an annoying brat of a kid and what hopefully are two gay immortal deities. Something you can rebinge, or reread as it simply doesn’t reach deep enough to leave a permanent impression. But that doesn’t make it enjoyable just to kill some time. .

Can you call it a throwback when the memory you stumble upon isn’t yours?
Six months ago, I joined this project and I’ve loved every second of it. When I started, I anticipated rifling through several hundreds of papers in archives (it turned into several thousand...). I did not anticipate running into great grandparents from both sides. And yet here they are, only living 15 minutes away from each other in the same city. Now filed in the same archive. One a police officer, the other one wife of a barber. None of them carry my last name. I got to know this great grandmother till she passed away in 2008, she never spoke about the war. About this great grandfather I only heard stories. Their grandchildren eventually became my parents, their histories were mostly forgotten. And that is why documents are so important, if only for memory. .
